Meet our founder, Jen!

The idea for this company came to me in 2020 while I, like everyone else, was cooped up inside and collecting a dozen new hobbies - most of which I’ve since abandoned (RIP my tiny garden & raspberry bush), but crocheting toys for my cat was one that stuck.

I’d gotten really tired of the poor selection of cat toys that I was finding in stores and online. After seeing how ecstatic my cat would get over these toys that I’d made, I started making them for friends & clients and perfected my craft - to my delight, they were a HUGE hit!

As a dedicated cat lady & animal welfare advocate, the quality of my pet toys is extremely important to me - my cats are family and deserve the absolute best. That’s why I’ve worked so hard to create toys that are safe, high quality & fun!

I believe in good business & providing a quality product with that special personal touch and attention to detail. For the sake of transparency, below I’ve listed the materials used in our products so you can feel great about what you’re buying.

Meet Koga

Koga is a spicy little nugget and the inspiration behind Kogaboga. He serves as our chief supervisor & product tester. He likes to keep our founder, Jen, on her toes and makes sure she’s adhering to deadlines.

Koga is very fond of our crochet toys - especially if there’s crinkle involved - and loves anything with natural fibers (particularly wool!).

Meet Jazzy

The second addition to our family, Jazzy is a sweet and adventurous girl who loves running on her cat wheel and snuggling with mom. She’s still learning how to run a business successfully, but her big brother, Koga, is here to show her the ropes!

Jazzy works long hours and is often found sleeping on the job. That said, she’s a fantastic product tester. She distracts the boss from work often because she’s so cute, but we’re working on it!

Jazzy’s favorite Kogaboga toys are crochet ice cream cones with rattles!

Meet Kakashi

This one-eyed rambunctious Pirate came into our lives spontaneously and there was never any doubt that he’d become a permanent member of our family. Kakashi is gregarious and fearless - he often plays with Jazzy & Iguro and desperately wants to be Koga’s best friend - he doesn’t even mind if Koga is grumpy.

Kakashi tests our toys and makes sure that they’ll withstand playtime from even the most energetic and fierce house cats. He also has mastered work-life balance and always leaves time for snuggles and relaxation.

Kakashi’s favorite Kogaboga toys are crochet sushi & our crinkle kick sticks!

Meet Iguro

Iguro is our morale booster here at Kogaboga and he’s always around to make sure our staff is feeling loved and supported. He’s a constant reminder of the good things in life and that it’s important to take time to slow down and enjoy. He is just about the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet.

He’s also an FIP Warrior and we’re so grateful for advancements in medicine and our incredible support network, near and far. To read more about our experience with diagnosing and treating FIP, check out our blog (coming soon)!

It’s important that you know what you’re purchasing and, even more importantly, what you’re exposing your pets to. Here are the materials we use in our products - we do our best to use eco friendly & biodegradable / compostable products wherever we can.

  • Organic Cotton Yarn

    The yarn we use for our crochet toys is made from 100% organic cotton and is GOTS certified.

    GOTS = Global Organic Textile Standard

  • Organic Cotton Stuffing

    The organic cotton stuffing that we use in our pet toys is grown & milled in the US and is GOTS certified, just like our organic cotton yarn.

    We love this stuffing because while it’s sustainable & biodegradable, it also results in super soft & squishy toys!

  • Organic Catnip

    We purchase our catnip from Frontier Co-op and we love that it’s organic, fresh, sourced in the US & very fragrant!

    Through our product testing, we’ve discovered that while cats are definitely fans of catnip, dogs love it, too!

  • Crinkle & Rattles

    We source sustainable and eco-friendly materials wherever possible but, unfortunately, the rattles and crinkle that we offer are made with plastic - these are optional add-ons for your toys.

    We’re actively searching for better alternatives and will make the switch as soon as that option is available.

  • Cellophane Wrapping

    Our clear cellophane packaging is made from a wood cellulose fiber sourced with sustainable forestry principles, certified biodegradable & compostable and made carbon zero.

  • Poly Mailers

    At the moment we are shipping our orders in poly mailers. We’re running through the rest of our stock before switching over completely to compostable paper mailers and boxes.

    We’re excited to keep integrating more sustainable materials and further lowering Kogaboga’s impact on the environment!
